Hooves & Coat – A Mirror of Health

It is a common perception that the condition of hooves and coat reflects the well-being of a horse. Brittle hooves, poor horn quality or a dull coat can be common signs of an insufficient supply with trace minerals which goes hand in hand with a reduced health status.

To compensate such deficiencies, additional support may be necessary. Apart from that, a supplementary administration of certain trace minerals can be required in times of increased metabolic stress, as the demand increases.

Make the Most Out of Your Feed

In addition to the above-described disorders, other problems, such as an impaired absorption of nutrients or the occurrence of faecal water, may occur. Both are caused by a shift in the balance of the microbiome of the large intestine. If the digestive system is imbalanced, feed can‘t be digested optimally, which can inhibit the absorption of nutrients as well as the binding ability of water. The consequences are: low weight gains or the uncontrolled excretion of water.

  • Supportive for horses with chronic skin disease
  • Accompaniment during times of increased metabolic stress (e.g., during change of coat)

Provide a Targeted Support

With the application of EQI® Hoof & Coats a targeted support can be provided to the horse. The supplement combines highly available zinc, copper and manganese enriched by the vitamin biotin. The included trace minerals are essential for maintaining proper horn quality and skin health. The supplementation supports the strength and elasticity e.g., of horn, bones, skin, and connective tissues. Moreover, zinc is one of the most well-known trace minerals regarding a sufficient wound healing, keratin synthesis or immune response.
